I fell into the trap and actually bought myself a book on how to grow spouts…

it really is:

1. buy the beans, chickpeas, lentils, mung beans, brown lentils, green lentils, red lentils

2. soak them in a jar of water overnight

3. rinse them and put them back in the jar, taking them out everyday and rinsing them off

4. they’re ready in  3- 5 days time and you can eat them just like that or put them in with your food.

*when you want them to stop growing, take them out of the jar and dry them off, then store them in the fridge.


My favourites are the chick peas, I don’t like them when they’re dry, but these ones are yummy, they’re soft-ish and have a nutty taste.

IMG_5777I put mine upside down on a plate as you don’t want the beans to be sitting in water after their initial soak or they will rot and smell nasty…
